Robbie Williams: Take the Crown ~ Milano

I really can’t believe how it took me so long to write this particular travel post.  For my 35thbirthday, A surprised me with concert tickets for Robbie Williams’ Take the Crown tour.  It was Robbie’s first solo tour since 2006 and I was eagerly awaiting this one.  So you can imagine my excitement when I got to know that on the 31st July I was finally going to see the greatest entertainer and singer on earth, at San Siro stadium.

We arrived in Milan around 10:30am and headed straight to our hotel Cristoforo Colombo. It’s located on Corso Buenos Aires a few minutes walk from Piazza del Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.

Since it was my first time in Milan, we settled our bags in our room and immediately walked our way to Piazza del DuomoObviously we couldn’t miss taking a couple of photos in front of Milan’s centrepiece – the Duomo Cathedral.  We grabbed some lunch at Ciao Ristorante located in the Galleria and made our way back to the hotel.  We quickly freshened up and called a taxi to drive us to the stadium.

At long last, the concert started at nine.  It was one of the best two hours of my life.  I was over the moon..…singing Angels along with Robbie and a stadium full of thousands of people was simply amazing and a ‘dream-come-true’ to me.  One thing crossed off my bucket list. The following day, we had our breakfast at the hotel and caught the train to Como where we spent a lovely, sunny afternoon walking around the place.  It was beautiful.  I was secretly hoping to bump into George Clooney at one of the open air cafeterias, but I guess, seeing two celebrities in just 24hrs is a little bit too much to ask!  Maybe next time.

Back in Milan, that evening, we went for dinner at Navigli – a small, picturesque neighbourhood in Milan named after the canals that run through it.  After a short stroll and a gelato we boarded a cab and went back to the hotel to call it a night.

We woke up very early on our last day, packed our stuff, had breakfast and made our way to Malpensa airport for our flight back to Malta.
